As an engineer deeply involved in the water heater manufacturing industry for over a decade, my team and I were accustomed to discussing water temperature and heating dynamics within the confines of spacious indoor bathrooms. That was until 2022, when everything changed.

At that time, our founder astutely observed a growing trend: whether in North America, Europe, or emerging domestic markets, an increasing number of people were spending their weekends camping in the wild. However, upon deeper market research, we discovered a massive void: in completely off-grid outdoor scenarios, there was simply no truly reliable hot water solution.

"If the market doesn't have it, we'll build it ourselves." With this simple original intention, the SEFFY Portable Gas Water Heater project was officially launched. But we soon realized that condensing a bulky household appliance into the size of a briefcase was an extreme engineering challenge.

Engineers adjust the machine's programming and internal structure

Achieving Extreme Compression in Limited Space

The soul of outdoor gear lies in its "portability." To achieve a miniaturized design while guaranteeing powerful core performance, we found that off-the-shelf components available in the market simply could not meet our requirements.

We had no choice but to design and develop every single internal core component from scratch. This meant extremely high R&D and tooling costs. There were voices of compromise within the team, but our founder left us with only one directive: "If we are going to do it, we must be the best."

After the first prototype was built, in our pursuit of the ultimate portable experience, we worked under immense pressure to scrap and redesign the layout three consecutive times. By completely reconfiguring the internal structure, we successfully shrank the machine down to an astonishingly compact size.

Overcoming Industry Pain Points: The Patented Anti-Freezing & Heat Recovery System

As the outdoor boom accelerated, similar products began to surface on the market. However, during our testing, we found that these early competitor models all shared a fatal flaw: once the power was scaled up, the high gas consumption caused the gas cylinder to freeze rapidly, making it impossible for the machine to sustain high-power operation.

To solve this, we conducted countless thermodynamic simulations and ultimately developed SEFFY's exclusive "Patented Anti-Freezing System."

This is an incredibly ingenious energy circulation design. We boldly positioned the exhaust outlet close to the gas cylinder interface, attempting to use the residual heat of the exhaust to keep the cylinder warm. However, the safe storage temperature of a gas cylinder must be kept under 45 degrees Celsius, and the raw exhaust temperature was obviously too high.

Therefore, we creatively integrated a condenser near the exhaust outlet and relocated the water inlet nearby. When freezing river water enters the machine, it first passes through the condenser, absorbing the excess heat from the exhaust.

KEY ENGINEERING BREAKTHROUGH: THE TRIPLE-WIN HEAT CIRCULATION
  1. Pre-Heating Cold Water: Cold inlet water absorbs exhaust heat first, drastically reducing the gas consumption required inside the heat exchanger for superior energy efficiency.
  2. Exhaust Temperature Control: By transferring heat to the cold water, exhaust temperature drops precisely below 45°C before exiting—making it safe to touch while serving as an ideal heat source for the gas cylinder.
  3. Sustained 10kW Output: Empowered by this system, the unit overcomes ambient temperature limits and consistently maintains a powerful 10kW output without cylinder freezing.
Focusing on Real User Experience: Type-C Fast Charging & 20-Minute Auto Start-Stop

Great engineering isn't just about breaking hardcore specifications; it's also about empathizing with the nuances of the user experience. During our internal team's real-world outdoor tests, we fixed two critical, yet easily overlooked, pain points.

The first was the power supply limitation. Initially, we only designed a car charger, which strictly tethered the machine to a vehicle. To achieve true freedom, we upgraded the circuit board and introduced a Type-C charging port. Now, users only need a data cable supporting the PD protocol (such as a standard Apple Type-C charger) to easily fast-charge the unit at home or via a portable power station.

The second was the awkwardness of interrupted showers. When showering outdoors, people often need to temporarily turn off the showerhead to apply soap. With traditional portable machines, if the water is shut off for more than two minutes, the user has to step out of the tent to manually reignite and restart the unit. To eliminate this hassle, we specifically developed a "Patented Auto Start-Stop Device." Today, even if you turn off the showerhead for up to 20 minutes, the machine will instantly awaken and output hot water the moment you turn the showerhead back on, thoroughly recreating the comfort of a home shower.
